Informa has launched a computer scheme and a corporate individual savings account (Isa) in its 2011 flexible benefits.
The Isa will be available to employees from April, so the business publishing company will reopen the enrolment period for flex in March to give staff the opportunity to contribute to the Isa in the new tax year.
Employees will be able to access details of the Isa through a corporate platform hosted by Friends Provident, which also provides Informa’s group personal pension (GPP).
Tom Humphris, head office HR and UK reward director, said Informa’s group GPP had a takeup of about 50%, so the corporate Isa would act as an alternative investment vehicle for the firm’s relatively young workforce.
“I thought it was a great option to get engagement with the remaining 50% of staff, and a good way of getting people to start thinking about planning for the future,” said Humphris.
During the flex enrolment period, which closed at the beginning of December 2010, the company ran a series of employee benefits roadshows and sent out an iPad mock-up invitation to every member of staff.
Attendees had the opportunity to win an Apple iPad, Virgin Experience Day vouchers, three nights’ accommodation in a boutique hotel and two return flights to Switzerland. About 85% of Informa’s 3,500 UK employees attended the roadshows.
The iPad theme to this year’s flex invitation was to highlight a new computer scheme Informa has introduced with Let’s Connect. Employees are able to pay for the rental of a computer through salary sacrifice, and at the end of a three-year rental term, they have the option of keeping the computer or returning it to Let’s Connect.
Informa has also enhanced its health and wellbeing benefits. Partners of employees are now able to access gym membership, health screening and health cash plan, in addition to private medical insurance (PMI) and dental insurance.
The organisation has also secured discounts on retail vouchers with four more shops – B&Q, Currys Digital, Harvey Nicholls and Ikea.
Informa has an existing company car agreement with Masterlease, but new for 2011 is a web portal that lets staff set up leases for company cars directly with the provider at preferential rates. Staff also have the chance to buy cars that are returned at the end of the lease.
