Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), a subsidiary of global electronics company Hitachi, has switched intermediary and provider for its private medical insurance (PMI) scheme.

The company, which provides storage infrastructure solutions, storage management software and storage consulting services to over 170 countries, has appointed PMI Health Group to replace Mercer as intermediary for its PMI, with Norwich Union now providing the perk, which was formerly supplied by Axa PPP Healthcare.

The appointment of PMI Health Group includes managed care, with a team of nurses appointed to manage individual medical claims for 350 UK employees of HDS, who are based predominantly in its head office at Stoke Poges near Slough.

Collette Hodkinson, senior consultant at PMI Health Group, said HDS will also appoint PMI Health Group to cover its health screening and employee assistance programmes, which are due for renewal in December.
