At KP Snacks, we focus on empowering our colleagues to make healthier choices and providing them with rewards and benefits which optimise this. Employee health and wellbeing is at the heart of our strategy wheel and business strategy with a focus on building feel-good healthy habits.
As part of this, for one month each year we put a health kiosk into each of our locations to enable colleagues to undertake a self-assessment including height, weight, body mass index (BMI), smoking, alcohol consumption, diet, sleep, stress and overall wellbeing. The kiosks provide a personalised health assessment to colleagues either to their email or by print out and this gives them a benchmarked wellbeing age which can act as a moment of behaviour change. We have many colleagues who have had an assessment and then utilised the output to improve their wellbeing.
This year, to support a more holistic approach to colleagues using their data, we have launched a habits-for-health programme which is an online platform accessible from anywhere, which colleagues can input their results and it then provides a personalised coaching and focus on building healthier habits. This supports our business strategy around improving colleague wellbeing, and building those important feel-good habits also supports our strategy of supporting our communities for years to come as we prioritise our colleague wellbeing.
This has a cost to the business but also provides valuable data around the health and wellbeing of our colleagues in anonymised data by site which allows our wellbeing champions and wellbeing teams to use the data to focus on the health promotion and health focus that matters to their own colleagues. I would recommend that all employers either take a snapshot of their own colleague wellbeing needs or trends to optimise health-related rewards and benefits which, also deliver health promotion based on the health of their colleagues, not based on assumptions or fads which may lose engagement and have little colleague or employer benefit.
