Google has been named the best global company to work for by The Great Place to Work Institute.

Its 2013 Top 25 World’s best multinational workplaces list, which recognises employers with high trust and high engagement cultures, ranked Google at number one, followed by business analytics software organisation SAS Institute, data storage organisation NetApp and technology organisation Microsoft.

Nine of the 25 top multinational organisations have operations in the UK, including NetApp, Microsoft, National Instruments, Autodesk, Accor, Quintiles, SC Johnson, McDonald’s Restaurants and The Coca-Cola Company.

Tom O’Byrne, chief executive officer of The Great Place to Work Institute, said: “I am delighted that once again our UK best workplaces dominate the global list.

“With only 25 organisations in the world awarded this prestigious accolade, the achievement of these nine UK organisations is a testament to their world-beating leadership and commitment to creating a great workplace for their employees.

“Indeed, it is the support of everyone who works at these organisations that has led to their recognition as among the world’s best.”

Brad Goodwin, vice president and group general manager, UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, at SC Johnson, which was number 19 on the list, added: “We are honoured to receive the award and to be recognised among such outstanding global organisations.

“The recognition acknowledges SC Johnson’s worldwide commitment to creating a culture of respect, camaraderie and inclusion and, as a family company, we are committed to making a difference and doing what’s right for the people who work so hard every day to make the company a success.”
