EXCLUSIVE: Mathew Davies, director of HR at Addison Lee, will discuss the speed at which the world of work is changing and what that might mean for HR practitioners at Employee Benefits Live 2018.
The session, titled 'The future of HR is now', will form part of the 'Global Reward' conference stream on Wednesday 3 October.
The session will be chaired by Anthony York, director of Only People, and Davies will discuss the importance of line managers in building the employee experience. He will also explain how the changing nature of employment and employee expectations is set to have a significant impact on the way in which HR practitioners deliver services with employers.
Davies said: "The best employers are going to be those who have the ability to be increasingly agile and deliver increasing levels of personalisation. What that means for HR practitioners is moving away from a 'computer says no, this is our policy and procedure' approach, to looking at the outcome they are seeking to deliver and how they can ensure a consistent experience and how they can make employees feel great about their workplace."
Making employees feel positive about their employer experience is more complex than it has ever been, Davies insists.
"People always remember how you make them feel, and how one individual feels to the next is going to differ markedly," he explained. "You need to recognise that and adapt your provision. You need to be able to deliver something meaningful when the demand of individuals is going to be highly diverse and personalised."
Davies will address delegates on the opportunities this new world of work presents to HR practitioners.
"HR can move from solely being the police force for the governors of what policy might be, to being the enablers of great outcomes for individuals and groups of employees," he said. "I'm going to talk about going back to the future and recognising the importance of the line manager in delivering those outcomes, rather than it being left to the HR function."
Employee Benefits Live 2018 will take place on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 October 2018 at ExCeL London.
