Geneva-based food and beverage flavour organisation Fona International is to reward its 220 employees with a $2,500 (£2,073) bonus payment for every year they have worked at the organisation.

The bonus, which will be paid in December 2020, was announced to employees via a video call. It is intended to recognise employees’ hard work and loyalty, especially during the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Joseph Slawek, chief executive at Fona International, subsequently held socially distanced meetings with staff to congratulate them and recognise their loyalty.

The special payment is in addition to the wide variety of benefits that the organisation currently offers to its workforce, including employer-funded life and healthcare insurance, quarterly performance bonuses and an employee assistance programme (EAP).

Slawek said: “I’m actually grateful and indebted. We can not even begin to pay back the people who helped Fona International reach all the records we achieved. We wanted to recognise the people that have been so loyal to us. I just wanted to say thank you in person now and not end up wishing I had done something like this.”
