Helen-King-Vanarama

EXCLUSIVE: Helen King (pictured), non-executive director at car leasing organisation Vanarama will discuss how employers can develop individuals within their business to help minimise staff turnover at Employee Benefits Live 2017.

The session, titled ‘Bridging organisational and individual goals to develop and retain future talent’, will form part of the HR strategy conference stream on Tuesday 10 October.

In the session, King will discuss how employers can train and develop their employees in order to reduce staff turnover and ensure employee happiness within the organisation.

King, who will deliver the session alongside Tony Cooke, HR director at Adidas, will highlight how Vanarama has developed its own staff, as well as demonstrate how the organisation has assisted employees, who started as trainees, grow into senior management or director positions. She will be advising delegates from the perspective of a smaller organisation and how people development can be implemented in this working environment.

The non-executive director will emphasise how employees themselves are a valuable and costly business asset, therefore looking after their personal and business development is an important investment for organisations.

King said: “What I’m looking at [is] developing people within the business for the future, so it’s like a subs bench. We’re looking at all of the ways that we can train and develop our staff and minimise staff turnover by making sure all of our employees are happy.

“Our staff are the most valuable and most costly asset of our business without a doubt. Whether [employers are] a small business or a big business, our staff are our best asset, and how to best to look after them, for their own personal development and for business development, […] those two things go along hand in hand.”

Employee Benefits Live 2017 will take place on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 October at Olympia National, London.
