Law firm Pinsent Masons will discuss the upcoming gender pay gap reporting regulations at Employee Benefits Live 2016.
Helen Corden, legal director at Pinsent Masons, will join the workplace equality and diversity conference stream on day one of the London-based event, presenting the session entitled Mind the gender pay gap, alongside Anna Sanford, solicitor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).
Corden will outline the legal requirements involved as organisations prepare to undertake gender pay gap reporting. She will also examine the potential impact of the regulations, such as possible knock-on effects on organisational reputation, recruitment, and competitor standing if a gender pay gap is identified.
Corden will also look at how organisations can best communicate their findings, and the steps they can take to close the gender pay gap, and improve workplace inclusivity and diversity over the long term.
Corden said: “[Organisations] are going to have to do a lot of work in dispelling the myth among employees that gender pay doesn’t mean equal pay, so it’s going to be important to get communication right.”
"If [organisations] haven’t started thinking about [the regulations], or taking any action, then they should be. It’s imperative that they understand what their gap is now before they have to publish, so they can produce an appropriate narrative and present it in the best way possible.
She aded: “It’s not just about this figure that is going to be produced at the end of the regulations. It’s about improving diversity within the organisation.
"Inclusion and diversity should be embedded in [an organisation’s] culture in order to result in a better performing [organisation].”
