Colin Miller, reward manager at Kent County Council, won ‘Compensation and benefits professional of the year’. This was not the only honour that went to the council at this year’s awards – it also won ‘Most effective benefits strategy in a public sector organisation’.

Miller joined Kent County Council in 2002 from his previous role as reward adviser at Pfizer. However, he began his career as a research scientist. Miller has also had an impact on the wider reward industry as chairman of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s reward forum.

Miller said: “This is recognition of what my rewards team has done and delivery of what is recognised to be an extensive and innovative approach to reward in Kent County Council.”
