Just under two-thirds (63%) of employee respondents without a dental plan would consider taking up one if their employer offered it, according to research by Denplan.

Its 2013 Dental benefit survey, which questioned 503 benefits professionals and more than 4,000 UK adults, found that 42% of employer respondents in the process of reviewing their benefits package would considering adding a dental plan.

The research also found:

  • 49% of employer respondents believe that a dental plan helps to manage staff absence and time taken off for sickness.
  • 69% of employer respondents believe that a dental plan enhances employee wellbeing.
  • 24% of employee respondents agree that issues accessing NHS dentists are impacting their oral health.

Pam Whelan, head of corporate at Denplan, said: “Healthcare and wellbeing is still a priority and, despite tight budgets, our survey has shown that more than a quarter of employers offer a dental plan as part of their benefits package.”
