Discovery Networks has opened a medical and wellbeing centre at its London headquarters, Discovery House.
The centre will provide holistic primary and preventative healthcare for more than 1,300 employees.
The new centre, which was declared open by chief executive officer David Zaslav and international president JB Perrette, will be managed by Nuffield Health and provide onsite medical professionals including a doctor, nurse and physiologist.
Services on offer include GP consultations covering in-depth physical health and emotional wellbeing appointments providing clinical diagnosis, health advice, minor surgeries and onward referrals.
Nurse consultations will provide advice and treatments for illnesses including asthma, allergy support, women’s health, travel immunisations and smoking cessation.
Other services include 360 health assessments, same-day prescriptions, pathology and physiotherapy.
As part of an employee promotional campaign called ‘Stay Amazing, Discovery’s LifeWorks and inclusion team is hosting ’meet the Nuffield Health team’ interactive panel discussions and centre tours to enable staff to learn more about the services on offer.
The centre is the latest offering in the employer’s expanding package of healthy lifestyle programmes, which already includes a vitality reward scheme with PruHealth, comprehensive health insurance, private medical insurance, subsidised gym membership, massages and reflexology, a step challenge, nutrition and hydration workshops, onsite flu vaccinations, fresh fruit for shift workers and an employee assistance programme.
Amy Girdwood, executive vice president of Discovery Networks, said: “The health needs of Discovery employees are top priority. We believe that when you are healthy and happy, you will naturally excel at work.
“The centre will help us deliver this by providing the highest quality medical care to all the employees in the UK to help them ’Stay Amazing’.”
