Yorkshire Building Society has devised an environmentally-friendly company car scheme that offers drivers 15% of their total monthly car allowance back, if they opt for vehicles with low-carbon emissions of 120 grams per kilometre or less.
Caroline Gibson, travel co-ordinator at Yorkshire Building Society, said: "This is going to be a question of us pointing out the benefits of driving green vehicles, and when you look at the impact that this could have on the environment it is a very small cost to the company."
The organisation hopes that if the environmentally-friendly plan goes ahead, 20% of company car drivers will eventually end up driving low-emission vehicles within the next two years.
Gibson believes that the building society will be able to achieve this environmentally-friendly objective.
"Only eight out of the 117 [company car drivers] are currently in green cars, but I hope that this would rise to 20% over the next two years.
"I don't think that is unrealistic," she added.
