The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has consolidated its fleet provision and entered into a four-year fleet management contract with one provider as part of a drive to cut costs.
The new arrangement, which is provided by fleet management firm Masterlease, will see all aspects of the organisation's 167-strong fleet offered by one provider. These were previously managed by approximately four fleet providers. The RFU's new fleet management package will also include accident management services, vehicle maintenance and environmentally-friendly cars.
The governing body for English rugby decided to make changes to the way its fleet was managed after a review into the whole-life costs of cars identified that savings could be made.
Ian King, HR director at the RFU, explained: "The RFU undertook a robust review and, at the end of the process, selected Masterlease because it made real commercial sense to do so.
"We have reduced our fleet costs, made the fleet easier to manage, and improved the position of our drivers."
