Pharmaceutical company Roche has seen a 20% fall in accidents since introducing a driver training and risk assessment programme.
The company, which has two operations in the UK, also found that its claims frequency was reduced after training its high mileage drivers in line with its corporate health and safety policy.
Gill Shaw, fleet manager at Roche, said that all drivers were included whether they took a company car or chose a cash allowance with which to finance a personal contract purchase plan.
She added that following the latest ruling by the Health & Safety Executive it wanted to demonstrate its duty of care towards its drivers.
