Employers have been urged to make sure that their fleet policies and practices comply with the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, which comes into force on 6 April 2008. The new legislation will make it easier for employers to be prosecuted in the event of fatal accidents involving their drivers. Mark Sinclair, director of Alphabet, said: "It is estimated that 1,000 road deaths every year in the UK involve someone driving on business. [Employers] are more vulnerable than they may think."
