Leicester City Council has launched a salary sacrifice car scheme for 13,600 eligible employees.
The scheme, which is operated by Tusker, includes motor insurance, servicing and maintenance, roadside assistance, tyres and glass, plus protection against redundancy, resignation and maternity leave.
Leicester City Council already provides employees with salary sacrifice arrangements on a range of other transport-related benefits, such as a bikes-for-work scheme and a park-and-ride scheme.
The council has set a carbon emissions cap of 120g/km to encourage employees to choose fuel efficient and more environmentally friendly cars.
Cory Laywood, HR, pay and benefits manager at Leicester City Council, said: “This new salary sacrifice car scheme completes the number of transport options we can offer our staff to enable them to get to work.
“We also view it as the only real way to offer our staff a new car as cost effectively as possible.”
