Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions will carry out safety checks on their employees' company cars and private vehicles.

The main purpose of the safety checking day, due to take place on 17 September, is to teach employees how to conduct simple checks and maintain the safety of their own vehicle. Staff will be shown how to check fluid levels, lights, windscreen wipers, glass and tyres. Members of the firm's technical services team will be on hand to offer staff advice, as well as inform them about perks such as discount vouchers that are available to those that need to replace tyres or glass.

All employees who have their vehicles checked will asked to make donations to the charity BEN, which offers practical, emotional and financial support to people who work or have worked within the automotive industry, as well as their dependents.

Simon Oliphant, chief executive at Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions, said: "This is a great opportunity to raise some money for charity, while reminding people of the importance of making simple car checks. The opportunity to see managers in overalls under the bonnet is one we hope very few employees will want to miss."
