Davis Langdon is offering an increased company car allowance for staff and partners at the construction project and cost consultancy who choose vehicles with low carbon dioxide emissions.

The firm has set carbon emissions of 165g/km as the benchmark and will offer employees an increased car allowance for vehicles at or below this level. Staff whose vehicles exceed this level of CO2 emissions will have to make payments towards sustainable projects.

Rob Smith, senior partner at the firm, said: "I am extremely pleased with the clear motivation shown by people in Davis Langdon to embrace sustainability and drive change. We must however remain mindful of the need to match announcements with actions."

Davis Langdon has been working with the Energy Savings Trust and fleet management provider Leasedrive Velo to develop this policy.
