Despite political and business pressures to reduce carbon emissions, fleet managers are more concerned about saving money than being green when procuring vehicles.

Of the 2,600 fleet decision-makers who took part in the Masterlease Global research survey half cited cost savings as their top priority.

This factor came top of the list of priorities for fleet managers in most countries surveyed, including the UK (68%) France (39%) and Germany (33%). However, most fleet managers in Italy (53%) were more interested in vehicle technology and those in Poland (34%) counted service from their existing suppliers as being their top priority.

Most employers cited the environment as a low priority, with 1% of those in Greece and Mexico saying it was a concern. UK fleet managers were the most green.
