A third (33%) of employee respondents say that a company car is the best work perk an employer could offer, according to research by OSV Vehicles and Motoring.
Its survey of 750 employees and 340 employers also found that a company car is the deciding factor for 19% of employee respondents when taking a job.
The research also found:
- 16% of employee respondents say that not having a company car is a deal-breaker.
- 41% of employee respondents believe that company car schemes allow them to drive a car that they would not ordinarily aspire to, whether through personal financial issues or otherwise.
- Just 10% of employer respondents are looking to invest more into fleet cars over the next year.
Andrew Kirkley, joint company director of OSV, said: “There are many different factors to consider when putting together a remuneration package for potential star employees, but with the company car proving such an attraction, it may well pay to use fleet as a recruitment carrot.”
