Something for the weekend: A social media post by an employee who was caught eating a cookie on a work call by her manager has gone viral due to its amusing nature.
Dhimahi Jain, from Pune in India, was on a virtual work call when she decided to eat some of her favourite cookies. She assumed that her microphone would not pick up the sound of her eating them, but unfortunately, that wasn’t quite the case!
Her manager did, in fact, notice, and made a funny remark in response, which resulted in much amusement on social media.
Jain posted a screenshot of the message she received from her manager, with a photo of her munching on the cookies, on X earlier this week. Along with these, she wrote: “Today, I couldn’t control myself and started snacking on my fav [sic] cookies during a work call… and this is how my manager reacted.”
The screenshot showed a message from her manager that read: “Dhimahi, we can hear your cookies crunching, please mute yourself.” Oops!
The post appeared to resonate with many people on social media, who responded with jokes and similar anecdotes.
One user said: “Literally me doing surrud surrud with the straw drinking green juice”, while another stated: “Haha love the reply… if I were your manager I would also ask what cookies are you munching on [sic].”
An additional user joked: “When your snack speaks louder than you”, and another said: “POV: When the cookie contributes more to the meeting than you do.”
“One should never control themselves when it comes to snacking”, added one more user.
While we don’t really condone eating during a work meeting, this did make us laugh!
