The British Film Institute (BFI) is to give staff a 1% consolidated pay increase, effective from May 2018.
The one-year cost of living award, which was negotiated with trade unions Bectu and Unite, includes back pay to 1 April 2017.
BFI and the trade unions are currently negotiating to agree a new pay and grading structure. While negotiations are underway, transitional arrangements include maintaining incremental pay increases and continuing to appoint internal promotions under current pay rules.
The negotiations regard a proposed pay and grading scheme that was rejected by Bectu and Unite members in December 2017. This sought to move from using incremental progressions to set grade salaries.
Helen Ryan, assistant national secretary at Bectu, said: “The pay increase for 2017-2018 is in line with the current pay structures and means staff are in the strongest position possible as negotiations continue on the grading review.
“The unions are fully committed to trying to agree a new pay scheme within the government’s pay guidance by 30 June 2018. Any such negotiated new proposal would need to be voted upon by members through a consultative ballot.”
