Office products supplier Acco Brands has launched an international employee assistance programme (EAP) for staff working across its European operations.

The company, which owns the Rexel brand, has an existing EAP for its 400 UK staff, but saw a need to provide support to nearly 600 employees who work in 13 European countries.

The international scheme, provided by PPC Worldwide, was launched on 1 April. It varies by country, but typically gives staff 24-hour support via an intranet site with frequently asked questions (FAQs), further information and links to contact telephone numbers, as well as a telephone helpline and face-to-face counselling.

Claire Targonski, European compensation and benefits manager at Acco, said: “We wanted an all-inclusive, pan-European programme that gives standard employee assistance support, given the recession. This gives employees the opportunity to talk to somebody outside of the business to hopefully help them through any personal issues.”

Working with one provider for multiple countries enabled Acco to make cost savings on the deal.
