Something for the weekend…

Staff may start offering their payroll managers copious amounts of Horlicks, comfy cushions and scented candles after hearing about a recent mishap in Germany.

A tired banking employee fell asleep on his keyboard and accidentally transformed a €222 million (approximately £188.4 million) order, a court heard.

The Hessen labour court heard that the banker was supposed to transfer just €62.40 (£52.96), but instead fell asleep while pushing on the number two button on his keyboard.

This lead to a massive €222,222,222.22 order.

The bank discovered the mistake shortly afterwards and corrected the error.

So if you’re a payroll manager and notice pictures of sheep appearing around your desk, it could be your employees are hoping for a similar error when you’re working on their salaries.
