The research also found:

  • 60% of respondents that work for an organisation that does not have a health and wellbeing strategy in place feel that board level executives do not understand the value of investing in employee health and wellbeing.
  • More than a third (37%) of respondents cite a lack of employee engagement as the biggest challenge to implementing and delivering a health and wellbeing strategy.
  • 31% of respondents identify inadequate budget as a key barrier to implementing and delivering a health and wellbeing strategy.
  • 75% of respondents that work for an organisation with a health and wellbeing strategy agree that investing in health and wellbeing has had a positive impact on their workforce and business performance.

Chris Horlick (pictured), distribution director at Axa PPP Healthcare, said: “While it’s encouraging to see so many people management professionals recognise the value of a health and wellbeing strategy, it’s disappointing that some still face significant barriers to success. For example, lack of buy-in and support from senior management and inertia on the part of unengaged employees; two important obstacles that health services providers can help wellbeing advocates to overcome.”
