Previously, only senior staff, who represent around 10% of the workforce, had access to the benefit.

The food manufacturer introduced the scheme during its flexible benefits enrolment window in April.

Since then, 48% of employees have signed up for a health screening.

The health screenings, provided by Bluecrest Wellness, aim to help the organisation focus on its employees’ healthcare issues and trends as part of efforts to improve its occupational health service.

Danone also introduced a health cash plan in 2013 to supplement its private medical insurance (PMI) scheme.

John Mayor, head of UK rewards and HR project management at Danone, said: ”We wanted to link health screenings to our PMI cover, to help us gain better control of our plan and understand if it was the right one for our current population.

“The link we have managed to find will allow us and our employees to take prompt action further down the line.”

Danone communicated the health screenings via roadshows, which included mini screenings for staff. Following the screening, employees receive a 31-page booklet that includes their full results.

Mayor added: “All the information is confidential, but we can mine the data to analyse any trends in the organisation to help us tailor our occupational health strategy.

“The take up has been tremendous, with 48% of the population booking in for screenings in April and May alone.

“We are now trying to get more dates as we look to specific occasion-based campaigns, such as ‘A Kick Start to a Healthy Summer’.”
