Approximately two-thirds (68%) of employees would prefer payroll giving to be an opt-out rather than an opt-in benefit.
According to a poll of more than 1,000 employees by Workplace Giving UK, a further 64% said they would want to have a say in which charity the deducted monies went to.
Peter O’Hara, managing director of Workplace Giving UK, said: “In my experience of fundraising in the workplace for over 12 years, the majority of people I spoke to had really good intentions regarding giving to charity but had never got round to doing anything about it.
“However, individuals have really strong views regarding where they want their money to go and where they do not want it to go.”
