Employment screening provider Vero Screening has been accredited as a real living wage employer by the Living Wage Foundation.
The accreditation means the organisation has committed to paying its 253 employees a wage based on the true cost of living rather than the government-set national living wage, which is currently set at £9.50.
Vero made the commitment in recognition of the role its employees play in its ongoing global expansion and development.
In February 2022, The Living Wage Foundation reported that 63% of low-paid staff felt a living wage would help their mental health, while 38% were falling behind on household bills, up from 29% in December 2020.
Rupert Emson, chief executive officer (CEO) at Vero, said: “It is a simple fact that a business is only ever as good as its people, and we truly believe in the people we work with here at Vero.
"We are nothing as a company without their support and dedication, and are committed to improving upon the wellbeing of all those who choose to work with us in return.
“We also recognise the responsibility we have as a key employer, both for the South East and in the UK generally, in working to improve upon our quality of life as a society and the effect providing a real living wage can have on the wider community in general.”
