US government raises salary threshold for overtime pay
The US Department of Labor has finalised a new overtime rule that extends the salary threshold for overtime pay eligibility. Employees who work more than 40 hours a week and earn less than $913 (£625) a week will now be eligible for overtime. Previous rules stated that employees were only eligible for overtime if their salary was less than $455 (£312) a week. The new rule will come into effect in December 2016. bit.ly/1tuaDhs
US rules clarify incentive levels for wellness programmes
The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has issued final rules that clarify how Title 1 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) apply to workplace wellness programmes that offer incentives and request personal health information from employees and their families. bit.ly/1S9pemV
Amazon and L’Oreal USA commit to US government’s equal-pay pledge
