EXCLUSIVE: The Entertainer has spent the last three months celebrating the one-year anniversary of its payroll-giving scheme.

The celebration campaign included a party at head office, at which charities gave presentations to staff, and a national cake-baking competition, at which winners received cash prizes to donate to their charity of choice.

The retail chain was also awarded the government’s Gold Quality Mark for its scheme, which is provided by Workplace Giving UK and allows staff to donate to a charity of their choice directly from their pay.

The campaign resulted in a rise in participation in the payroll-giving scheme among the organisation’s 800 staff. Donations for the first year of the scheme totalled £32,430.

Gary Grant, managing director at The Entertainer, has also committed to donating 10% of all the organisation’s profits to charity.

He said: “We are committed to giving back to the communities in which we trade so I am really encouraged to see large numbers of our staff choosing to support their chosen cause via their pay.

“Their engagement in this initiative had been greater than with anything we have ever launched.”
