UK-Paintball

Something for the weekend: UK Paintball is advertising for a summer intern aged between eight and 12 to test out child-friendly paintballing guns across its 75 locations, boosting pocket money for the chosen applicant with wages of £100 a week.

The junior employee, who will need to be available for work on selected dates between July and September 2019, will be vital in helping UK Paintball launch its new low impact paintball guns; lighter than traditional paintballing weapons and firing at a slower pace, the guns have been specifically designed for visiting children, so they can test out video game skills with friends on the paintball field.

As well as being the first to sample the new paintballing guns, the lucky intern will receive benefits such as free entry to UK Paintball sites for themselves and two friends for the duration of the summer months, a £100 weekly salary and the opportunity to claim back any travel expenses.

To apply for the newly developed role, candidates must live in the UK, be aged between eight and 12 and be available to visit various UK Paintball sites on chosen dates. The summer intern will be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over for every site visit.

The application form requires youngsters to state in 100 words or less why they should be chosen for this unique opportunity.

Andrew Naylor, head of operations at UKPaintball.co.uk, said: “The recent rise in popularity of [videogame] Fortnite means that we are seeing larger numbers of young visitors to our sites, with a lot of them huge fans of the game and keen to experience outdoor activities with friends that are similar in nature. We are hopefully going to inject a huge amount of fun into the summer for one young fan and their friends, but the role also comes with an important task.

“As well as reporting back to us on how well the new range of low impact guns work for them, we also expect whoever is offered the role to document their experiences through a range of videos, blogs and photos on our social media accounts.”

Here at Employee Benefits, we think this internship will certainly fire up expectations around traditional work experience opportunities, especially in terms of pay targets. It definitely wins compared to our stints at refining our tea-making skills…
