Council-owned social care organisation Tricuro has awarded its 1,500 Dorset-based employees a two-year pay deal, which includes annual pay increases of 2% and the introduction of a new national pay band.

The pay deal, which runs between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2020, was agreed between the Local Government Association (LGA) and trade unions GMB, Unison and Unite.

The deal sees all Tricuro employees receive a minimum 2% pay rise on both 1 April 2018 and 1 April 2019, as well as the introduction of a new national pay band, or pay spine, on 1 April 2019.

The pay deal has increased hourly pay in the lowest pay band to £8.50 an hour compared to £7.78 an hour previously. It has also facilitated employees above pay grade 20 to receive a 2% award in 2018-2019.

As the majority of Tricuro’s employees are within the lower pay bands, the new pay deal enables these employees to receive an average pay increase of 4.43% across the organisation, with 55% of overall employees gaining a pay rise of more than 5%, effective from 1 April 2018.

Tricuro provides care support services for Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole councils.
