US retail store Lowe's is rewarding its 300,000 employees with a special payment to thank them for their hard work during the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
The bonus will be paid alongside the employees' monthly salary payment in May 2020.
Full-time employees will receive a $300 (£242) bonus payment, and all part-time and seasonal associates will receive a $150 (£121) bonus, with a total of $80 million (£64 million) bonuses being paid to its front-line employees.
This is the second $80 million (£64 million) special payment that Lowe's has paid to its employees during the Coronavirus outbreak, with the first special payment being paid in March 2020.
Lowe's will also continue to pay for additional Coronavirus-specific telemedicine benefits which it has introduced for all of its employees and their families. Employees who are not enrolled in the organisation's medical benefits plan are eligible to use the service.
Marvin Ellison, chief executive and president at Lowe's, said: “The changes we’ve announced today underscore our commitment to associates and our recognition of their unwavering support for our customers and communities.
“We know how hard associates are working to help us keep our promise to communities that we will be here for them during difficult times. We also remain steadfast in our pledge to continue to evaluate and adjust our operations to meet the evolving guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local officials around customer and associate safety.”
