Automotive manufacturer Daimler is rewarding 130,000 members of staff based in Germany with a one-time bonus, based on its latest financial year results and to recognise employees' hard work during 2019.
Employees who have enrolled in the organisation's profit-sharing scheme will receive a bonus of up to €597 (£501) with their April pay. The scheme only applies to employees working at Daimler's facilities in Germany.
The organisation's operating profit of €4.3 (£3.62) billion in 2019 is lower than the profit of €11.1 (£9.33) billion in 2018. Consequently, this year’s profit participation is lower than the bonus employees received in 2019.
The profit-sharing scheme for employees in Germany was initially established at Daimler in 2017, and is calculated under the terms of an agreement with the General Works Council.
Wilfried Porth, member of the board of management at Daimler, said: “2019 has been challenging and required particular efforts from our employees. We want to honour their extraordinary commitment of the past year with a one-time appreciation bonus.”
Michael Brechy, chairman of the General Works Council at Daimler, added: “We are aware that many of our colleagues had to work with high tension and under difficult conditions this past year. Therefore, we have jointly agreed to pay an additional one-time appreciation bonus. We are grateful for everyone’s exceptional performance and commitment.”
