Melton Mowbray Building Society has introduced an employer-paid health cash plan for staff through Benenden Healthcare.
It is the first non-public sector organisation to appoint the provider, which was previously exclusive to public sector workers.
Through the scheme, the building society’s employees will be able to access a range of discretionary healthcare services and will benefit from medical advice, prompt diagnosis and treatment, and 24-hour GP and stress counseling helplines.
Benenden Healthcare’s services act as a back-up to the NHS by providing access to treatment if there are lengthy waiting times. The scheme can also help towards the cost of physiotherapy, podiatry and chiropody and financial help for those living with cancer or tuberculosis.
Martin Reason, chief executive officer, Melton Mowbray, said: “As an established organisation, with a large employee base, we are often approached by service providers who want to supply employee benefits packages to our staff.
“Benenden Healthcare stood out for us – not only does the society provide a cost-effective, tailored healthcare plan for our employees, as it is a fellow mutual organisation, it shares our ethos and values, and understands how we work.”
