Legoland recruits master model builder for full-time role

Something for the weekend: Merlin Entertainments, which owns theme park Legoland, is looking to recruit a master model builder at its new site in Milpitas, California in spring 2020.

The children’s favourite brick building theme park is opening up a new site within The Great Mall of the Bay Area, and is running a competition to find its latest recruit, who will be offered a full-time contract as soon as it opens next year.

The job comes with a competitive salary and benefits package including medical insurance, eye care, dental, life insurance and 401(k) matching, as well as share scheme opportunities. The new recruit and their family and friends will also be able to gain free entry to all of Merlin Entertainments’ attractions.

To be in with a chance of getting a big kid’s dream job, shortlisted applicants will have to attend one of its recruitment days on Saturday 18 January or Sunday 19 January 19 2020.

Interested employees must create a two minute video pitching their suitability for the job. They will also need to put their building skills to the test and showcase one of their own impressive creations as part of the application process.

Duties of the job include making Lego building a fun activity for visitors to the park, leading inspiring workshops for children aged three to 10 years old, and taking ownership of the Legoland Discovery Center creative workshop.

The successful applicant should not be a shrinking violet, as they will be expected to act as a spokesperson for the park, attending media appearances, participating in events and being on-hand at any PR-related activities.
