JD Williams Group has launched a voluntary benefits scheme for its 3,000 employees that includes discounted private medical insurance (PMI).

The direct shopping clothing company has also rebranded its benefits and plans to take steps to provide online total reward statements within the next year.

Staff wanting to purchase discounted PMI will simply have to tell the provider, Bupa, that they work for JD Williams. Miranda Rosenbaum, reward manager at JD Williams Group, said: "We realise PMI is expensive and we want to bring costs down for staff."

The firm is also offering staff discounts at retailers, hotels, leisure facilities and travel companies, and on health assessments and dental insurance.

The scheme has been communicated via a printed factsheet that forms part of a new brochure, 'mybenefits', which also has information on core perks. Brochures have been tailored for staff who are paid weekly or monthly, because the pension scheme is different for each.

"Only 1,000 staff have access to a computer, so a lot of work has gone into this booklet," said Rosenbaum.
