Informa is offering all employees a day off each year to participate in a volunteering activity of their choice.
The new strategy was introduced as part of Informa's 'Be Involved' corporate responsibility (CR) programmes, after the results of a 2009 staff survey showed 86% of employees were interested in becoming involved with a local charity, while 58% wanted to help fundraise and give their time to good causes.
Keith Brownlie, Informa’s group HR and CR director, said: “Informa and all our staff across the world have long taken an active interest in developing relationships with local community organisations and global charities.
"We listened to staff and found an overwhelming number wanted to contribute their time, as well as money, to projects they felt passionate about.
“This new programme helps us motivate and retain our skilled employees, as well as support the communities in which they live and work.”
