Hightown Housing Association has opened an on-site staff gym at its headquarters in Hemel Hempstead.
The gym is free for employees to use on their lunch break, as well as before and after work.
The organisation, which employs more than 600 members of staff, aims to enhance employee wellbeing and work-life balance through the opening of the gym.
It also hopes to encourage staff to follow its Five Ways to Wellbeing initiative, which asks employees to connect, be active, take notice, keep learning, and give.
Hightown Housing Association held an opening event for the new gym on 15 June, which included challenges such as the Hightown Gladiator Contest featuring a mock triathlon on a cross trainer. The team with the fastest time won a month’s delivery of healthy snacks.
Other activities included table tennis, table football, a hula hoop challenge and a competition to guess the ingredients of a healthy smoothy.
David Bogle, chief executive at Hightown Housing Association, said: “Our new staff gym is all part of our plan to promote the five ways of wellbeing to our staff and encourage a healthy work-life balance. It’s important we all look after our health and I hope the new gym will make it easier for our staff to do so.”
