Legal and General has partnered national charity Rethink Mental Illness to help employers reduce the number of working days lost due to employees’ mental health problems.

The partnership allows employers that take up Legal and General group protection insurance to access training from the charity using management tools that can be used to support employees and reduce the chance they will need time out of work due to stress, anxiety and depression. Employers can also access the charity’s information and resources on mental health problems.

Jim Islam, managing director at Legal and General Group Protection, said: “The partnership allows us to offer an even more complete package to help employers get employees back to work as quickly as possible, as well as providing greater support to staff.

“As issues like stress often start in the workplace, it is vital that [employers] have support in place not only to help employees receive the assistance they need, but also to spot conditions developing early so they can be prevented and the employee can remain in work.”
