GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has changed its voluntary benefits provider to bring more simplicity to its reward offering.

The pharmaceutical organisation has switched its scheme provider to Next Jump, which will give employees access to discounts at major brands and retailers.

Staff will also have the option to save through direct discounts or a points-based scheme, through which the points can be used on other purchases or converted to cash.

The scheme, which went live in mid-November, also offers employees the chance to claim a free invite to a VIP event. For example, a chocolate outlet may have an open evening to show how it makes chocolates, or a nightclub may offer a free cocktail.

Employees will be able to receive personalised email updates of offers on selected brands, if there are limited time offers, for example.

Employees will also be able to leave reviews of services or products on the website and read reviews from other Next Jump clients, as well as GSK colleagues.

The organisation has used its online total reward magazine to inform its 14,000 employees of the changes to the scheme, which is also open to over 20,000 GSK pensioners.

In addition, GSK has amalgamated the new discount scheme with its internal classified advertisement website, the Trading Post, which allows employees to post items for sale or recommend trades people.

Harsha Modha, director of UK benefits at GSK, said it chose the new discount scheme because of the simplicity it offers, as well as the breadth and depth of discounts and offerings.

“It fits quite nicely with our own strategy of keeping it simple but having a broad range of services,” she added.
