The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has teamed up with the National Union of Teachers (NUT) to send out booklets containing financial tips to union members as part of its workplace financial education programme.

The FSA booklet has been co-branded with the NUT and been distributed to 365,000 teachers as an insert in the union’s magazine The Teacher.

Mary Graham, employer relationship manager for the workplace delivery team at the FSA, said: “It covers general budgeting, financial planning, short- and long-term borrowing, mortgages, saving and investing, and pensions. It’s comprehensive.”

The FSA is also working with the union’s learning representatives to provide financial education seminars for NUT members in the early part of the year.

This latest initiative with the NUT brings the number of people reached by the FSA’s workplace financial education programme to more than one million. The FSA has been set a target to reach four million workers by 2011.

The FSA has worked with a number of employers to bring financial education into the workplace.
