National advisory organisation Foster Denovo hosted a breast cancer awareness lunch and learn session for its 100 employees as part of its employee wellbeing programme.
The lunch and learn session, held on 21 May 2018, was delivered by UK-based charity Breast Cancer Haven. Approximately 20 employees attended in person, and staff working across Foster Denovo’s eight offices were all invited to dial in and attend the session remotely.
The lunchtime session formed part of the organisation’s Voice initiative. This seeks to discuss internal ideas and projects that can be implemented to improve employee wellbeing, communication and collaboration.
The lunch and learn session was communicated to employees via emails, the staff intranet and posters.
Louise Blair, head of HR at Foster Denovo, said: “We’re always exploring ways to improve and support our employees, which is why we established the Voice initiative; to develop and support the wellbeing of our staff.
“The Voice is made up of employee representatives and our HR team. It is a platform for employees to tell us what they would like to see, share ideas and provide us with feedback. In response, the Voice team implements changes, runs various initiatives, and supports employees in line with our [organisational] values.
“Educational talks from organisations like Breast Cancer Haven are invaluable, particularly given the increasing prevalence of the illness. We look forward to continuing to support the charity.”
