Navigating the vast array of financial products available nowadays can be a mind-boggling experience. Not only is the sheer choice often overwhelming, but there are many potential pitfalls to avoid along the way. All too often, financial products are marketed heavily and come with a ‘hard sell’. Consumers may end up with products that have little or no benefit to their situation and with a high price tag.

The Money Charity’s Financial Products modules are designed to help employees develop important skills to research, evaluate and select those financial products most suited to their needs and likeliest to help them achieve financial wellbeing.

Employers booking workshops in this subject can choose between the following one-hour modules:

Protection and Insurance: topics include how to protect savings and investments, select effective insurance products and how to differentiate between them.

Banking: topics include the UK’s money system, the differences between bank accounts and the criteria for selection, how to evaluate current accounts, overdraft fees and associated risks.

Credit & Borrowing: topics include sources of credit and strategies for managing credit use and getting on top of debt, the need for credit and the consequences of not having it, APRs and other terms associated with credit, the credit check process and how to improve a credit rating, the effect of renting on credit ratings.

Wills: topics include the importance of Wills, tax implications of making a Will, and assessing the need for using a solicitor.

Mortgages & Help to Buy: topics include how mortgages work, what to do before making an application, the effect of credit ratings, help from the government and/or the ‘bank of mum and dad’, and how to manage mortgages over time.

Financial Advice: topics include how to access credible, up-to-date, impartial advice and guidance.

All of The Money Charity’s financial wellbeing workshops are completely independent and delivered by our team of consultants throughout the UK. Attendees will never be offered financial products or services during or after our workshops.
