EXCLUSIVE: Airline organisation Virgin Atlantic held a health and wellbeing event in November 2016 for its UK employees.
The event featured a range of wellbeing information and activities for staff, with a number of providers on-site to offer expert guidance.
This included eyecare information and a vision screening facility, provided by Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, which provides an e-voucher eyecare benefit for Virgin Atlantic's workforce.
Employees attending the event could also gain information on mental health and financial wellbeing, smoking cessation, alcohol awareness, sexual health, sun protection and awareness, and healthy eating.
Other activities and information available included mole checks, work station assessments, a spin bike challenge, and a FitBit challenge.
Virgin Atlantic, which employs 9,300 people in the UK, hosted the wellbeing event at its Crawley site, the main training centre for all crew, contact centre and engineering staff. Approximately 300 employees attended the event.
Employees based at the organisation's other locations, such as Swansea, Heathrow, Manchester and Gatwick, were able to take part in the event via online quizzes on health and wellbeing topics.
Josie Lazenby, senior manager occupational health and wellbeing at Virgin Atlantic, said: “We take the health and wellbeing of our people very seriously. The wellbeing event enabled us to pass on a lot of useful information and the eyecare element was very enlightening in terms of the number of beneficial factors it can have for wider health.”
