De Montfort University has introduced an employee assistance programme (EAP) for its 3,300 employees.

Provided by FirstAssist, part of the Capita Group, the EAP offers staff a confidential counselling service via both the telephone and face to face, as well as a legal and financial helpline.

Employees will also have access to a wellbeing programme that includes an online portal with 24/7 health advice, health assessments, weight loss and lifestyle plans, and training programmes for events such as fun runs and corporate triathlons.

Staff will be able to record their own biometric data within a personal wellness record, set individual goals and plans to assist them in leading a healthy lifestyle, and have access to a library of fitness and nutrition articles and healthy recipes.

Ben Browne, director of human resources at De Montfort University, said: “Our employees’ health and wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us and we are committed to offering them the best support available."
