Bikes-for-work scheme provider Cyclescheme and the national governing body for cycling, British Cycling, have partnered to promote cycling and its benefits, increase cycling knowledge, and encourage UK workers to cycle to work.
The two organisations are also aiming to build on the popularity of cycling to support government targets to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and congestion, and to support sustainable travel.
Daniel Gillborn, head of commercial operations for Cyclescheme, said: “At Cyclescheme, we are committed to the long-term cultural and modal shift from cars to bicycles.
“Our collaboration with British Cycling is another key step in leveraging the positive effects of our Olympic year to increase the number of people who cycle to work, while enhancing British Cycling’s commuter strategy too.”
Ian Drake, chief executive of British Cycling, added: “We are working hard to encourage more people to ride to work, both through our road safety campaigning and by providing a raft of expert tips and advice to commuters from ensuring they have the right kit, to having the necessary skills to ride safety in the rush hour.
“We are delighted to now be working with Cyclescheme, which shares our passion for increasing the number of cyclists across the country, and together we look forward to helping more people make the move from the car or train onto the bike.”
