Specialist gas supplier BOC has launched a discount card for employees to use on its own products.

Using the card, its 3,700 employees can purchase products, such as power tools and safety equipment, at a discount of up to 20%. Staff can apply for the card through the firm's voluntary benefits scheme, launched in November last year.

BOC, which is part of the Linde Group, launched the discount card to extend the range of perks available through its Benefits of Choice, voluntary benefits scheme. It aims to encourage staff to view benefits as part of their total remuneration, by building on the range of benefits available through its portal, provided by Benefex.

Lindsay Fitzpatrick, head of reward at BOC, said: "Voluntary benefits enable employees to make significant monthly and annual savings on a range of products and services. We believe this scheme is a positive and high-value addition to their benefits offering, especially in the current economic climate.

"Benefits of Choice is one further element in our programme to ensure that BOC remains an employer of choice. That, in turn, helps us to recruit and retain the most talented individuals within our organisation."
