Abbey and Age Concern have teamed up on a mentoring programme that allows employees from the charity to learn skills from the bank's key staff.
The programme is open to Abbey's London-based senior executives, who will share their experience of managing change following the Santander Group acquisition in 2004. It follows Age Concern's acquisition of Help the Aged.
Caroline Curtis, head of talent management at Abbey, said: "For our executives it is a brilliant opportunity to develop and improve the key leadership skill of mentoring and so enhance self-awareness through personal coaching thus underpinning our commitment to developing individuals with potential."
Sam Mauger, chief executive at Age Concern, said: "This mutual learning partnership between Age Concern and Abbey executives is a fantastic opportunity for both parties to spend time with each other to improve awareness of how successful organisations working in different sectors operate."
Meanwhile employees at John Lewis will be raising money for the retailer's charity of the year Contact the Elderly. Staff will also be given the chance to do placements with the charity.
