Virgin Media has seen 700 employees register their interest and 270 employees take up its bikes-for-work scheme since it was launched in November 2011.
The benefit had been requested by staff through employee surveys, which showed that bikes for work were the most popular choice among potential new benefits.
The Ride2Work scheme was launched with provider Evans Cycles, which hosted roadshows at nine Virgin Media locations. Competitions and prizes at the roadshows included the chance to win a £500 bike.
Since its launch, the largest scheme take-up has been among employees based in Manchester, the northeast and at the organisation’s head office in Hampshire.
Paul Farrell, head of group†benefits for Virgin Media, said: “Ride2Work has kick-started part of our approach to wellbeing in 2012 and we are committed to taking responsibility for growing our business in a way that is good for employees and the environment.”
